This is what one participant wrote following the retreat:

"I just spent a wonderful weekend with our friend and recipient of the Peace Abbey’s Courage of Conscious Award, Dr. Will Tuttle. We attended Will’s very first retreat to train facilitators to teach his book, The World Peace Diet. The retreat was held at Clark Tibbet’s Nature Sanctuary and Land Stewardship Center in Columbiaville, MI. Judy Carman, another Animal Rights author, and good friend of Will's came all the way from Lawrence, Kansas, to attend the event. Mark Stroud, a well-known vegan chef from Cincinnati, Ohio, who has been teaching from Will’s book, also presented his material at the retreat. Attendees came from as far away as Montreal, Baltimore, and Chicago. There were three Christian ministers and a Seventh-Day Adventist family of four that also attended. Some people were newbies to the movement, one having only read Will’s book three months ago and another who only had been vegetarian for four months and now excited about moving on to vegan. Ages ranged from the teens to the white-hairs. In all, I think the official attendance was around 40 people.

It was an emotional, informative, and inspiring weekend. There was lots of sharing of ideas and feelings. All left with the optimistic feeling that 40 more people would be out there actively sharing the message through the vehicle of Will’s book. For those who missed this opportunity, Will may have another retreat next year although he has not committed to one and has had requests to hold one on the West coast for the people who could not travel to this venue."

We live at a powerful time in history, as one world is dying and a new world is yearning to be born. Let's work together to help heal our world.

We can join together to deepen our understanding of the roots of our culture’s dilemmas, and reflect on how we can most joyfully and effectively contribute to the positive transformation of our communities. Through discussion, reflection, contemplation, exercises, guided meditations, and talks by Will, we can engage at depth with the transformative ideas in The World Peace Diet, and deepen our capacity to be the change we want to see in the world.

Sonya, a neighbor-turned-vegan who attended parts of the retreat, is also a celebrated artistic baker, and created this vegan cake in the shape of The World Peace Diet, which was enjoyed by all:
